About us

Zola Counseling Solutions

We are a minority and women owned mental health private practice based in Maryland, serving all of the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia). Established in 2019, Zola was created out of a passion for helping others find peace in a world full of chaos. Initially starting off as a small solo practice, we’ve grown into a group practice, offering internships for high school, undergraduate and graduate students and supporting other small practices whose missions align with ours.

Zola Counseling Founder

Asia Rodriquez

With 10 years of experience working in the social services industry, Asia has experienced what works and what doesn’t. The mental health system was not created for people of color and many have avoided treatment because of the stigma that history has placed on healthcare or being ‘crazy’.

Asia founded Zola Counseling Solutions as a way to destigmatize what mental health treatment is and how its experienced. Normalizing the therapeutic process, meeting clients where they are and creating a comforting environment where people of color can feel safe to work through some of the hardest things to talk about has been a priority for Asia.

Recognizing the need for more therapists of color, Asia expanded her efforts into supporting therapists-in-training through clinical supervision, offering internships to high-school and undergraduate students to expose them to the field of counseling and supporting other practices with similar missions to play her part in improving and diversifying the mental health system.
